My Two Favorite Books Ever!...Ever! Ever!
Harry Potter and The Hunger Games
My favorite book when I was an adolescent was Harry Potter. The first book came out when I was twelve years old and I read it in a day and couldn’t wait for the other books to come out. This famous book about wizards and witches became my favorite book for the next eight years and I joined the masses standing in line for the newest book and the midnight showings of the movies. My favorite book now is also one of the most popular books today; The Hunger Games. I didn’t read the book when it first came out thinking the idea behind the book was somewhat weird. Last summer I picked it up on a camping trip and I couldn’t put it down. The Hunger Games features the main character Katniss who must fight for her life in an arena against twenty four other teenagers. Each player if they win earns food for their district, and as the players battled it out I couldn’t stop biting my nails.
In the last eight years both of these books have impacted me greatly, and have been a big part of my life. Starting when I was twelve I bought every Harry Potter book the day it came out, and stood in line for every midnight showing. I read the books numerous times, purchased the movies when they came out. It became a huge part of my life even on holidays such as Christmas and my birthday because many times that is when I would receive the movies as gifts. Now that I own all of the movies I watch them constantly, and even share them with others as much as possible.
Since my discovery of the Hunger Games last summer I have been highly anticipating that movie as well and each release date for a new movie trailer has been marked on my calendar. I have also reread The Hunger Games since then and am signed up for the fan club that allows me to purchase tickets very first for the March movie the day that they go on sale. I realized that these two novels have greatly impacted my life and have greatly affected most likely who I am in some way. Harry Potter was even one of those books that encouraged me to continue reading, and so today I am continuously reading books because I love them so much. Both novels have taken a lot of my time, a lot of my money, but they have also given me years of entertainment and happiness.
I absolutely love the Harry Potter books! They're amazing!! I've heard so many good things about Hunger Games, but I can't decide if I want to read them. I'm worried it might be one of those things where you've heard too many good reviews and then the book doesn't measure up. Also, with the upcoming movie, I might wait to read the books so that I can enjoy the movie.
